Your desktop stays yours.

WidgetThemes has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. It doesn't send anything about you to the developer. Everything below happens on your Mac, except where it says otherwise.

What leaves your Mac

• Weather. To show the forecast, the app asks Open-Meteo for weather at your location, rounded to about one kilometre, or at the city you typed in Settings. If you type a city, its name is sent to Open-Meteo's place search. Open-Meteo sees your IP address, as any web server does. When the app uses your location, it also asks macOS for the place name, which Apple's geocoding service provides. This only happens if you add a Weather or Moon & Sun widget.
• Album art. When Spotify is playing, the cover image is downloaded from Spotify's own image server, using the address Spotify provides.

Nothing else is sent anywhere.

What the app reads, and only on your Mac

• Calendars and Reminders, if you add the Events or Reminders widget and allow access. Ticking a reminder off marks it complete in Reminders.
• Location, if you allow it, to find local weather. You can type a city instead.
• Music and Spotify, through macOS Automation, to show the current track and send play, pause and skip.
• System readings: CPU, memory, storage, battery, network rates, the busiest apps, and connected Bluetooth devices with their battery levels.
• Activity, if you add the Activity widget: how long the Mac was in use each hour today, how far the pointer moved and how many clicks there were. It never records keystrokes, what you click on, or which apps you use. The counts reset each day.
• Photos from a folder you choose for the Photo widget.

Settings, layouts, saved themes, focus-timer counts and today's activity totals are stored in the app's preferences on your Mac. Exported theme files contain only layouts and colours, never your photos, calendars or location.

This website

This site uses no cookies and no analytics. Its headline font is loaded from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when the page loads.
